Flyboy Centenary Edition 1920s

Avi-8 celebrates 100 years of RAF with aviation inspired timepieces

With Baselworld flying in fast, Avi-8 has created its latest line of timepieces, the Flyboy Centenary Edition.

2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Royal Air Force of the United Kingdom.

To commemorate this event, Avi-8 has developed a  collection of timepieces that incorporate design aesthetics and references that pay tribute to different eras of the RAF.

The 42mm watch comes in both a 1920s Edition and a 1940s.

The stainless steel 1920s version has a dial with oversized numerals in a retro 20s type. The collection has a white dial variant, as well as a black and an off-white.

The 1940s version is more minimalist, with the numerals on the dial being considerably smaller and the hands for hours and minutes being more angular and sword-like. The watch comes in blue, black or off-white.

Powering both timepieces is the Miyota 8218 Automatic, customised by the Avi-8’s watchmakers with a “Centenary” edition rotor and subdial seconds display at the 5 o’clock position, with date display at the 3 o’clock position.

The pieces launch at £249, and will continue to be released throughout 2018, starting with the 1920s and 40s editions and moving forward to the 60s and 80s at a later date.
