Apple Watch hit 3.6m shipments last quarter

Apple shipped an eye-watering 3.6 million units globally of its Apple Watch in the last quarter alone.

That’s according to analysts at International Data Corp, which uses Apple’s financial reports and also gathers data from suppliers, distributors and consumers to estimate the number of units shipped, not actual retail sales.

Despite this impressive figure, it is thought that the biggest losers during Apple Watch’s meteoric rise will be fitness band and wearable gadget companies, rather than traditional watch brands.

Industry experts believe that the shipment numbers are high enough that Apple has nearly overtaken fitness band brand, FiBit, as market leader in that niche sector.
