American Swiss brand adds Apple Watch to bracelet

An American watch brand has unveiled its own take on how to combine smart watches and traditional horology within the same product.

The Papillon deployment clasp of Nico Gerard’s new Pinnacle collection is designed to incorporate a 38mm Apple Watch, offering the wearer a 41mm Nico Gerard COSC-certified Pinnacle chronometer on the wrist and Apple’s smart watch on the underside.

Nico Gerard, the brainchild of American father and son team Andreas and Adam Pluemer and Nicolas Gerard, launched the product today on its website and is taking $200 deposits for the US $9,300 (£5,970) watch, which includes a 38mm Stainless Steel Apple Watch in the price.

A Skyview Pinnacle, with blue dial, is also listed as limited to 99 pieces and priced at US $9,500 while an 18ct rose gold Sunrise Pinnacle with red dial and 18ct gold 38mm Apple Watch Edition included is listed at a rather ambitious $112,000 and limited to 88 pieces.

The company lists a 10-12 month lead-time on delivery of the Nico Gerard Pinnacle, 8-10 months for the Skyview Pinnacle and 6-8 months for the Sunrise Pinnacle.

Inside the Nic Gerard Pinnacle lies the NG2824 calibre, which would suggest that it is based on the ETA 2824 movement. The bi-directional, self-winding movement has a 4hz frequency and 38 hours of power reserve.

The watch will be Swiss made and potential owners who put down a deposit will be sent a sizing guide so that the bracelet and clasp can be sized for a perfect fit on delivery.
