The big volume of Maurice Lacroix sales in the UK are for its Eliros watches, which retail for around £500. But retailers should push further up the watchmaker’s portfolio because for less than four grand they could offer some truly top end horology in the form of the Masterpiece Double Retrograde (£3,990), which launched this year.
The dial has an unusual layout with hours, minutes and a small seconds display at 9 o’clock and a power reserve indicator adjacent the crown.
Below noon, a retrograde hand displays the hour in a second time zone, while above 6 o’clock the date is displayed with a second retrograde hand.
It sounds complicated but is surprisingly easy to read at a glance.
The complications are driven by an automatic manufacture movement, the ML191, which can be admired via the sapphire glass on the back of its 43mm steel case.
The watch is offered with a black or silver dial.
