By Kathryn Lewis

German watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne took home two first prizes and two runner-up prizes at the Die Presse watch gala in Vienna on Monday night.

The firm received two first first prizes in the Classic Elegance category and two runner-up prizes in the Grand Complications category.

A. Lange & Söhne chief executive Wilhelm Schmid said: "With five additional awards, bringing the total to nine in the past 12 months, we can look back on a successful year in timekeeping. The prizes encourage us in our determination to never stand still and keep crafting the world’s finest watches."

The winners of the Die Presse awards are selected by readers of the watch magazine Chronos, the Austrian daily newspaper Die Presse, and the Watchtime supplement circulated by Süddeutsche Zeitung, as well as visitors to the MunichTime and ViennaTime exhibitions. The Vienna gala ranks among the most prestigious events of its kind in German-speaking Europe.
