Chopard does regulator watches so damn well that we never tire of seeing a new example, especially when they look as good as this L.U.C Regulator.
While it seems to be the aim of every other watch manufacturer to create dials with as much depth as possible in recent years, Chopard expertly illustrates how a comparatively flat dial can beat them all in the design stakes thanks to almost unwavering symmetry.
Minutes are presented on the main dial using the watch’s single central hand while hours, seconds and 24-hour GMT are displayed on sub dials at the 3/6/9 positions.
The watch’s 8-day power reserve indicator is then displayed at the 12 o’clock. The L.U.C Regulator even displays its beautifully Poinçon de Genève-decorated movement through a sapphire crystal caseback.
No other brand combines style and technical proficiency quite as confidently as Chopard does with its L.U.C watches. We just wish they’d not felt the need to include a date window, which leaves the final design only a hair’s breadth adrift of perfection.
