British watchmaker Loomes is celebrating news that two of its team have passed their end of year exams for British Hologogical Institute courses.
James Morris and Rodolfo Jimenez both completed the second year of a three year distance learning course alongside working at the Loomes workshop.
“I’m really proud of them both, especially as James got a very high mark for his pallet-making examination. They are day-long exams and very demanding,” says Robert Loomes, technical director for the company.
Robina Hill, managing director at Loomes, continues: “Having our staff take BHI examinations is personally rewarding for the staff because it validates them as individuals but it also validates the whole business when customers realise we all work to the highest British standards.”
“The BHI Horology course is the only one I know to teach how to make any replacement component from a clock or watch — as employers we don’t want people who can do rapid movement exchange, we want people who can carve metal into time,” Ms Hill adds.
